Isoleucine (Ile: I) is a branched-chain amino acid (BCAA). There are three branched-chain amino acids in the body, isoleucine, valine, and leucine. Branched-chain amino acids assist with muscle recovery following exercise. L-isoleucine is broken down within the muscle tissue to generate energy. Additionally, this amino acid helps to regulate blood sugar levels to stabilise energy levels. Isoleucine significantly increases the body’s ability to utilise glucose during exercise.
